Disinfection robot
Helpers against the Corona virus?
We have now declared war on viruses and pathogens such as the coronavirus. Autonomous disinfection robots drive through hotels, restaurants and other buildings and eliminate pathogens and germs using UVC light and dry fog. At first these robots were used in Chinese hospitals. In the meantime they have found their way to Europe and are used in many areas around the world.
How can the risk of infection with the coronavirus be minimized?
The ailing hotel and catering industry is also dealing with this question. The first hotels and restaurants are already using disinfection robots.
The disinfecting robot is currently booming. Hotels, restaurants, office buildings, schools and even airports use the robot with a double disinfection function to contain the coronavirus.
The robot can autonomously kill viruses and bacteria with ultraviolet light and dry fog. Not only the Covid-19 virus, but also all other viruses such as the flu virus, various bacteria and spores are eliminated to 99.9999%.
The used radiation intensity of the ultraviolet light is 200µW / cm² to effectively eliminate viruses and germs. As the robot moves around, UVC light and / or dry fog is emitted, which has a germicidal effect. All viruses and bacteria in the air as well as germs adhering to surfaces can thus be effectively eliminated.
The disinfection robot with double function is already being used successfully in many countries, starting with Asia (China including Hong Kong, Singapore etc.), USA, United Arab Emirates and Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany).
The disinfection rate is 99.9999%
Diseases due to infections are extremely costly. Every year the European Union provides around 7 billion euros due to infections with germs. The sources of infection are mainly hospitals, but also public areas where many people come together and “take the handle”, such as in hotels, restaurants, libraries or offices.
A robot can help with hygiene, especially on hard-to-reach surfaces. The disinfection robot drives autonomously through the area and positions itself independently in the room. A laser scanner is integrated for this function, which records the dimensions of the room and the objects in it.
After the robot has positioned itself, it treats the environment with UVC light and / or dry fog made of hydrogen peroxide. The device disinfects all surfaces in the room including walls, curtains, carpets, lamps, etc.

- 6 atomizer nozzles

- 4 UVC lamps
- Charging time 4 - 5 hrs.
- Rated power 50 watts

The disinfection app
1. the staff sets the disinfection mode.
2. enter the specified disinfection location (multiple locations are possible)
3. the robot sets off and goes to the destination by itself
4. when the robot reaches the destination, it turns on the ULTRAVIOLET lamp and nebulizer and starts disinfecting
5. when the operation is completed, the robot goes to the next disinfection point to work
6. the robot returns to the charging station after completing the mission to refill the disinfectant and recharge automatically.

Intelligent disinfection
Equipped with an IOT module for elevators, the robot can use the elevator autonomously and travel down and disinfect several floors.
The disinfection robot has three different setting options: 1. Disinfection begins directly at the starting point and dry fog is sprayed in the aisles on the way there and back during the preprogrammed journey of the robot. 2. Destination disinfection: The robot drives to its place of use and only starts there with disinfection 3. Dual function of UVC light and dry fog.
For the dry fog function, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorous acid or peracetic acid can be used. The capacity is 10 liters. Spray parameters: The amount of mist is 0.5-1.5 l / h and the spray particle size is less than 10 µm and therefore invisible to the human eye. The mist is distributed very finely and achieves a disinfection of the air of 99.9999%. When using the dry fog function, the room may only be re-entered after 4-5 hours and adequate ventilation.
For UVC irradiation, the device has 4 short-wave UVC lamps from Philips installed, which irradiate the entire room, so the radiation reaches every side of the room. After only using UVC light, the room can be re-entered shortly after disinfection.
The battery lasts for a working time of the robot of approx. 4 hours. As soon as the robot notices that the battery is running out, it drives back to the charging station autonomously and charges automatically.
Safety features of the disinfection robot
To prevent the UVC light and dry fog from affecting the human body, the robot emits a warning signal shortly before it is used and every two minutes. The disinfection robot M2 can move autonomously in rooms and corridors.
The robot recognizes obstacles and stairs through sensors and touch contacts and can even cleverly avoid hanging obstacles. Fixed routes and destinations are programmed in advance.

The robot is operated via an Android touch display. The driving mechanism allows the M2 robot to drive in all directions by rotating 360 degrees.

Service robots support staff in hotels and restaurants
Small hero with big impact
In the near future, service robots and other digital helpers will accompany us as a matter of course. Large hotel chains and smaller restaurants are already using these digital helpers: delivery and service robots are all the rage! Why this is particularly interesting for the hotel and restaurant industry, we illuminate in the following.
Costs to service personnel can be greatly minimized.
Especially in the hotel industry, there are many unchanging, repetitive tasks. Monotonous, time-consuming tasks such as taking orders to the room or serving guests in the lobby are currently still performed by hotel staff.
In the future, employees will be able to save this time, because a service or delivery robot can perform these tasks independently and thus relieve the staff. Because in the same time that a robot takes care of a room order, an employee can personally take care of the guests. This is not about replacing staff, because personal contact with the guest remains relevant for customer loyalty.
Rather, the robots serve as a productivity aid for hotel staff. Of the many tasks of a hotel employee, the robot can reliably take over certain tasks, such as a room delivery. Humans are able to react flexibly, communicate and act creatively. They should rather leave the monotonous, simple and repetitive tasks to a robot.

Revive new and old services
A service robot enables the hotel to offer additional services. Depending on the hotel, room reservations have already been completely eliminated or are only possible at certain times.
The robot is also ready for use at night, especially when there is only one person at the reception desk and he or she cannot leave the desk to do service errands. Or the hotel guest who has to check out very early at 5 a.m. to go to the airport could have his bill and breakfast delivered on time by a robot.
